Meet the Maker

Hello! Thank you for stopping by.

My name is Christy, and I live in Lexington, Kentucky with my wonderful husband, Thomas. One of our favorite things to do is to go hiking in the Gorge and other trails around the state. I am often inspired by the beauty of Kentucky in my jewelry designs. You will see trees, leaves, vines, and other woodland-inspired designs in my pieces.

I fell in love with the art of jewelry making when I was ten years old after making a simple beaded bracelet. Since then, I have grown in my craft by learning new skills and collecting unique gemstones to incorporate into my pieces. Now, years later, it is my absolute joy to make one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces to share with you!

Starting Sunglade Jewelry has been a dream come true for me, and it never would have happened if it had not been for a time of adversity in my life. While pursuing a career as a pediatric dietitian, jewelry making was on the back burner. In 2023, I developed POTS, a debilitating illness that made it difficult even to sit up for more than a few minutes. After a year of fighting through it, I had to quit my job and focus on getting better. I found myself picking up my pliers again and doing the craft I loved.

In a season of confusion and pain, I found joy in making beautiful, vibrant pieces of art. Jewelry making has been a ray of sunshine in this dark time of my life - thus how Sunglade Jewelry got its name. I hope my pieces will bring the same glimmer of joy into your life no matter what you are going through!
